Homes constructed to the Novoclimat standard are highly insulated (walls, roof, and floors), have high performance heating systems, efficient / draught free windows and doors, and internally climatically controlled. Each house is inspected, tested for air-tightness and certified as having satisfied the Novoclimat standard, the highest construction standard in Quebec for these criteria.

This means that as well as improving the energy efficiency, by at least 25%, which reduces running costs, the home is generally more comfortable, draught free, with stable temperatures and clean air.
